The Roberta Sykes Indigenous Education Foundation
The Roberta Sykes Indigenous Education Foundation has been supporting indigenous Australian students for over 25 years.
It is named after Roberta 'Bobbi' Sykes, the first black Australian to graduate from an American university, who worked throughout her life to encourage the development of high educational aspirations in the indigenous community and to facilitate goals which had previously been described as 'overly ambitious', such as postgraduate study at world-renowned universities.
The Foundation, with Cambridge Australia Scholarships and the Cambridge Trust, together co-fund the Roberta Sykes Cambridge Scholarship, which is available to Australian students of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, studying for a Masters or PhD degree in any subject.
