Department of Oncology
The Department of Oncology is an academic department within the School of Clinical Medicine at the University of Cambridge. The mission of the Department of Oncology is to reduce the morbidity and mortality of patients with cancer through research, treatment and education.
Research within the department focuses on diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancers and can be divided into three broad disciplines: Basic Laboratory, Translational and Clinical Research, spanning a range of disciplines including molecular biology, genetics, physics, chemistry, mathematics, computational biology, clinical medicine and surgery.
The Department of Oncology has partnered with the Cambridge Trust on the establishment of a new scholarship programme starting in academic year 2019-20. The programme will run initially for five years and will fund up to two Wellcome Trust Oncology PhD Studentships each year. Each studentship will be awarded for four years to support an MRes followed by a PhD.
