Islamic Development Bank
The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) is a multilateral development bank, working to improve lives by promoting social and economic development in Muslim countries and communities worldwide, delivering impact at scale. It has 57 member countries in four continents, encompassing one-fifth of the world's population.
As a development bank, the role of the IsDB has not been limited to providing resources and financing operations, but also striving to help develop human resources, ensuring technology transfer to its member countries and Muslim communities in non-member countries, in order to build their technical capacities. Its scholarship programmes with leading universities are designed to empower students and communities with a particular focus on sustainability, in line with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals.
The Islamic Development Bank works with the Cambridge Trust to offer the IsDB Cambridge International Scholarship, which is available to PhD and Master's applicants in the fields of Science and Technology. This award forms part of the IsDB Scholarship Programmes.
In 2014 the IsDB was invited to join the University of Cambridge's Vice-Chancellor's Circle, in recognition of its generous support of postgraduate students in Cambridge.
