The Trust's Midsummer Garden Party
On Monday 24 June, some 500 guests gathered in the beautiful gardens at Robinson College for ‘The Trust’s Midsummer Garden Party’, an afternoon of celebration for another year of outstanding achievements by the Trust’s scholars and to say thank you to the many colleagues with whom we work in supporting them.
The event brought together Trust-supported students from across the world, Trustees, staff and some of the many individuals who work with the Trust from across Collegiate Cambridge.
On a wonderfully sunny afternoon in the grounds of the College, guests were able to enjoy afternoon tea in deckchairs, a game of croquet whilst enjoying ice-creams, and Snap Chaps, a lively 4-piece, all-singing, strolling band, entertained those in attendance, inviting them to join in with their performance which many were more than happy to do!
Milena Gatic from Serbia who is studying Industrial Systems, Manufacturing & Management and attended the event said “the party is so lovely … it is good to see the people you study with as well as so many of us on the same scholarship … it has been great to mingle and have some fun!”
Helen Pennant, the Trust’s Director, was delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate the Trust’s students and recognise all those the Trust works with who offer funding, expertise and other support.
Helen said “today offers an opportunity to not only celebrate our students, but to thank all those who have worked with the Trust this year to support our students and to help us bring another cohort of just over 600 talented students who would not have been able to come to Cambridge next year without a scholarship.
It is only possible for the Trust to do by working with others, so I would like to extend my thanks on behalf of the Trust to our Trustees, in particular our Chair, Loretta Minghella and Deputy Chair, Loraine Gelsthorp both of whom are here today, to our College partners – and it is wonderful to see so many Colleges represented by their Senior Tutors and other senior officers today – and to colleagues from the University’s Development Office, the University’s Strategic Partnerships Office, the Student Services team and the University Endowment Fund, to name just a few of those who have been critical to the Trust this year.
We are extremely thankful to you, and we very much look forward to continuing our important work in bringing talented students from across the globe to Cambridge, and offering them the best possible student experience”.
